After being shut out for the 7th time of the year last night - all on the road - the Fredericksburg Nationals' look to bounce back in Lynchburg against the Hillcats with RHP Bryan Caceres on the mound. Fredericksburg is 15-6 in the first 21 meetings this year with the Hillcats.

Two different Fredericksburg Nationals have made big splashes in their first few games with the team. In his first week plus with Fredericksburg after being moved in the Juan Soto trade, OF James Wood has driven in 11 runs in his first ten games with the team, and in his first Fredericksburg Nationals' game after being called up, 2022 3rd rounder Trey Lipscomb hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat and drove in another run with an RBI single later in the game. 5th-round pick Jared McKenzie doubled and hit a three-run homer in his first two Fredericksburg Nationals at-bats on Thursday. McKenzie has at least two hits in three of his four starts for Fredericksburg, including three doubles.

Heading into play today, the Fredericksburg Nationals are 4.5 games ahead of Down East and Carolina and 5.0 games ahead of Salem in the Carolina League North Divison. Fredericksburg is 28-16 in the 2nd half, the best record in the Carolina League.

In 16 games with the Fredericksburg Nationals, Will Frizzell is slashing .357/.392/.671 for an OPS of 1.063. He’s hit six home runs and driven in 18 in his time in Fredericksburg after being drafted in 2021 out of Texas A&M.

RHP Bryan Caceres looks to win back-to-back starts after winning the last series finale over Augusta. Caceres has been a workhorse for the Fredericksburg Nationals this year, logging a team-high 96.1 IP.
