For the second time in his short career Juan Soto will be traded. According to reports by Juan Soto will once again be making a trip cross country and will become a New York Yankee.
After being traded from the Washington Nationals to the San Deigo Padres back in 2021 for a haul of prospects, the San Deigo Padres will be trading the outfielder to the New York Yankees.
The Yankees and Padres announced a trade sending Soto and fellow outfielder Trent Grisham from San Diego to the Bronx. The Padres receive five players — right-hander Michael King, top pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, right-handers Jhony Brito and Randy Vásquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka — in return.
After reports late last week that a trade between the Padres and the Yankees stalled, it seems that things picked up and progressed quickly over the past two days at this year’s Winter Meetings.

This trade makes sense as the Padres needed to save some money and they took to recoup some of the prospects they lost with the trade with the Nationals. In addition, the Padres recently took out a $50 million loan to help cover payroll, according to reports back in November.
In his two short years with the Padres, Juan Soto had a batting average of .265 with 41 Home Runs in 936 Plate appearances.
Soto now joins the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the Yankees outfield.
