Can we finally put this to rest, please? Juan Soto wants to test the open market once he becomes a free agent.

This morning, the Sports Junkies' weekly interview with Washington Nationals GM Mike Rizzo discussed the contract negotiations between Juan Soto and the Washington Nationals this summer about a contract extension.

Soto's side was believed to never countered with an offer to stay with the Washington Nationals. It turns out this is true; according to Mike Rizzo, during negotiations with Juan Soto this summer, Soto never presented the Washington Nationals with "any counteroffers."

According to Rizzo, this made the team realize they needed to change their approach, which is why the Nationals traded Soto.
