As Hurricane Ian, or now Tropical storm Ian makes landfall and moves up the East Coast, there is a bit of an issue regarding the weekend series between the Washington Nationals and the Phillies. According to the Athletic and their sources, "Saturday's doubleheader game between the Phillies and Nationals at Nationals Park will be moved to Friday due to the potential impact of Hurricane Ian in Washington, D.C., according to sources close to the situation."

Also, according to the Athletic: "Major League Baseball worked on the plans Wednesday but will not announce the new schedule until later on Thursday. The plan calls for single games in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday with a contingency for another doubleheader Sunday since Saturday looks like a lost day due to weather forecasts. The series will not be relocated, per sources."

The Athletic article continued: "If the Phillies and Nationals cannot play all four games this weekend, there is a small window to reschedule. The league installed one off day — Oct. 6 — between the end of the regular season (Oct. 5) and the start of the three-game Wild Card Series (Oct. 7). If the Phillies have yet to clinch a postseason spot, they would return to Washington after three games in Houston to play the Nationals in a makeup contest."

Stay tuned to the Nats Report for the latest updates regarding this weekend's series against the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals.
