The Major League Baseball Players Trust today announced that it has partnered with Team Rubicon and Project Hope, two nonprofit organizations aiding in the immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the United States due to recent natural disasters, including Hurricane Fiona, and the impending impact of Hurricane Ian.

Each nonprofit will receive a $75,000 grant through the Fastball Fund to support impacted communities. An additional $150,000 will be deployed to organizations responding to other recent natural disasters here and abroad, emphasizing relief efforts related to Hurricanes Fiona and Ian. The Players Trust will work with Players to identify nonprofits of their choice, each receiving $10,000 grants to help damaged communities.

Established in 1996, the Major League Baseball Players Trust is the charitable arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association. The Players Trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that harnesses players' expertise, influence, and passions to create meaningful and sustainable change in the lifelong well-being of others. The organization amplifies the social impact of players throughout the communities where they live, play, and call home, impacting thousands of nonprofits and individuals worldwide.

“Players want to lend a hand to support families in the areas where they live, play, and call home,” said Major League Baseball Players Trust Director Amy Hever.  “Unfortunately, in the past several months we have seen many Player communities hit by natural disasters such as the Jackson, Mississippi water crisis, the California wildfires, and flooding in Kentucky and Alaska. The Trust stands prepared to help Players support these communities in getting the help they need.”

For over 25 years, Players have been committed to making a difference by contributing their time, money, and name recognition to help communities in need and encouraging others to get involved. Players have supported a wide range of organizations and programs through the Players Trust, granting tens of millions of dollars.
