Quick Notes: The Athletic predicts that Rhys Hoskins will sign with the Nationals
Since the Nationals didn’t re-sign Dominic Smith, there has been a buzz around who will play first base for the Nationals in 2024. Andy McCullough of The Athletic predicts that Rhys Hoskins could sign with the Washington Nationals.
"The Nationals are well-positioned to offer Hoskins a contract to springboard him back into the market if he can demonstrate good health and renewed success in 2024. The team could also use a veteran to provide ballast for its youthful lineup," he writes.
This would be a nice addition to the Nationals and a change, as three former Washington Nationals are now with the Phillies.
Either way, the Nationals signing Hoskins and signing with the team makes sense for both parties.
Hoskins needs to have playing time to increase his value going forward and the Nationals would like to get more talent onto their roster to help further complete the “re-tool” that the “.
Hoskins has a career slash line of .242/.353/.492 across his six seasons in the MLB. He's hit 148 home runs and 405 RBI. Hoskins’ bat would be a good addition to the team.
