Leading the Morning Briefing: Moving on is always hard to do… One of the things that’s hard to do is to move on, but yesterday afternoon, the Washington Nationals did just that. We all know that Juan Soto is no longer a Washington National, and it is going to sting a bit for a while, and when Soto returns next week for the first time to Nationals Park, its going to sting a bit again. However, the Nationals did what they needed to do, and we should all take some comfort in that. Now, what comes next is just as important as what led us to this moment.

Things will be hard for the Nationals' but what happens next is extremely important for baseball here in Washington D.C. the moment is now; it's time to turn the page on the past; no more talk about 2019; with Juan Soto gone, its time for the team, the city to focus on the future, so this sell-off never happens again. Read our perspective on what the Nationals need to do so that this will never happen again for the team.

Dan has a full wrap-up and profiles on all the new Washington Nationals the team has acquired. It is worth a read in a special edition of the Rochester Red Wing Report.

GAME RECAP: The Washington Nationals spoil Jacob deGrom’s 2022 season debut with a 5-1 win over the New York Mets. In the first post-Soto game, the Washington Nationals beat the NL East-leading New York Mets 5-1. Not a bad way to kick start a new era in Washington.
