Good Morning, Washington Nationals Fans,

Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, March 4.

Welcome to the Morning Briefing! Richard here; Haden has the day off. Let’s get to this morning’s briefing.

Leading this Morning’s Briefing: Lile out of hospital after falling into bullpen

Since the Nationals didn’t play yesterday, the biggest news came on Saturday afternoon as the Nationals faced the Boston Red Sox in Fort Meyers.

As I shared with you on Saturday afternoon, the Nationals lost to the Red Sox. However, that wasn’t the biggest story coming out of the game. The biggest headline came in the top of the seventh inning when outfielder and Washington Nationals prospect Daylen Lile was carted off the field in the bottom of the seventh inning of the Nats' 4-2 loss to the Red Sox after going head-over-heels into Boston's bullpen attempting to rob a home run.

Red Sox pitchers in the bullpen immediately waved for medical help urgently. Red Sox and Washington Nationals’ medical staff and manager Davey Martinez ran to the outfield to help the 21-year-old prospect after the fall.

Yesterday, it was reviled that Lile had a back contusion and might miss some time, however, that was the best-case scenario for the prospect.

“I watched [the play] last night, about 10 times, and he really did luck out,” manager Dave Martinez said yesterday afternoon. “The fact that he was able to flip all the way -- I know it’s still painful, but it could have been a lot worse. So we’re grateful. … I mean, he’s hurting, but he’s going to be OK.”

Last season, Lile slashed .269/.355/.452 between Single-A Fredericksburg and High-A Wilmington
