Triple-A Rochester Red Wings

Daily Report From Rochester:
JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Rochester Red Wings edged out the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 6-5, Wednesday night thanks to a clutch two-out, two-RBI single in the ninth inning from right fielder Christian Franklin.
The go-ahead hit broke a 5-5 tie and capped a back-and-forth battle, giving Rochester its second straight win in the series. Franklin finished with three RBI on the night, matching his career high. He was one of three Red Wings with multiple hits, joining Yohandy Morales and Darren Baker.
Rochester jumped out to a 2-0 lead early with an RBI double from Morales in the first and a solo homer from Francisco Mejía in the second. Jacksonville responded with a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the second, then took a 3-2 lead in the third on Matthew Etzel’s first Triple-A home run.
The teams traded runs in the middle innings before Franklin tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI groundout in the fifth. Jacksonville briefly reclaimed the lead in the eighth, but Rochester struck back in the ninth after a walk, a single, and an intentional walk set up Franklin’s game-winning hit.
Bryce Conley started for Rochester, allowing four runs over five innings. Mason Thompson and Julian Fernández covered the middle frames, with Eduardo Salazar closing the door in the ninth for the save.
Rochester will look to keep it going in Thursday night’s game three, with Kyle Luckham set to start against the Jumbo Shrimps' Robby Snelling. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. EDT.

Double-A Harrisburg Senators

Daily Report From Harrisburg:
HARRISBURG, PA — Cayden Wallace drove in five runs, including a two-run homer and a two-run double, as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Altoona Curve 6-2 on Wednesday night. Wallace also added a sacrifice fly, capping off a three-RBI performance that highlighted a breakout August for the third baseman.
Wallace opened the scoring in the third inning with a sharp double to center, plating Sam Brown and Kevin Made. He added a sac fly in the fifth and crushed his 10th home run of the season in the seventh, again scoring Made to make it 6-1 Harrisburg.
Branden Boissiere also homered for the Senators, launching a solo shot in the fourth. On the mound, Jake Bennett delivered another strong outing, tossing 4.1 innings of one-run ball with no walks and two strikeouts. His Double-A ERA dropped to 2.64.
Altoona scored on a sixth-inning RBI single by Konnor Griffin and added one more in the seventh on a fielder’s choice, but couldn’t overcome Harrisburg’s early offense. Wallace, who struggled since being acquired in last year’s Hunter Harvey trade, is now slashing .363/.409/.613 in August.
The state rivals will retake the field Thursday night. Alex Clemmey will make another start for Harrisburg, looking for better fortunes after a couple of rough Double-A outings. Emmanuel Chapman will get the ball for Altoona. The game will get underway at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Wilmington:
GREENSBORO, NC — Titus Dumitru and Callan Moss each homered and combined for five RBI as the Greensboro Grasshoppers blanked the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 5-0, on Wednesday night.
Dumitru opened the scoring with a solo homer in the fourth—his ninth of the season—and added a two-run single in the fifth to make it 3-0. Moss followed with a solo blast of his own in the sixth and drove in another run in the eighth with an RBI single, finishing the night 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On the mound, newly acquired right-hander Eriq Swan, a top-15 Nationals prospect, made his second start since joining the organization. The righty allowed three runs over five innings, giving up just two hits but walking four. He struck out seven.
Wilmington will look to get on the board in game three, which starts at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday. A pair of righties will take the hill, Travis Sthele will go for Wilmington against Greensboro’s Khristian Curtis.

Single-A Fredericksburg Nationals

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:
LYNCHBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Nationals split their doubleheader with the Lynchburg Hillcats on Wednesday night, bouncing back from a 3-1 loss in game one with a dramatic 3-2 walk-off win in game two, while playing as the home team on the road.
Game One:
Fredericksburg jumped ahead early with an RBI single from Kevin Bazzell, but was held scoreless the rest of the way. Rehabbing right-hander Chase Solesky tossed three shutout innings before Owen Puk and Tommy Kane surrendered three combined runs. Puk took the loss, while Lynchburg’s Logan McGuire earned the win.
Game Two:
Brayan Romero pitched 3.1 innings for Fredericksburg, allowing two runs while walking five. The Fred-Nats tied it in the fifth on a Brenner Cox RBI fielder’s choice and a wild pitch, then leaned on their bullpen the rest of the way.
Ryan Minckler, Angel Roman, and Merrick Baldo combined for 5.2 innings of hitless, scoreless relief. Roman retired nine straight in a dominant three-inning stretch. Lynchburg failed to score its automatic runner in either extra frame.
In the bottom of the ninth, with a position player pitching for Lynchburg, Luke Dickerson stole third and scored on Nick Peoples’ walk-off single, securing the Fred-Nats’ 11th walk-off win of the season, the most in Minor League Baseball.
Fredericksburg played as the home team because of a postponement earlier in the season between the teams in Fredericksburg. Because Lynchburg doesn't come back to Fredericksburg this year, the “home game” was played on the road.
The Fred-Nats remain tied with Carolina for first place in the Carolina League North. They’ll send Liam Sullivan to the mound against Lynchburg's Joey Oakie—Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EDT in game four of the series.
