Good Morning Washington Nationals Fan,

Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, June 14, 2023. My name is Haden Raymer and this is your morning briefing. Today’s top story is the Washington Nationals returned to Minute Maid Park for the first time since the 2019 World Series.

Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Nats return to Houston for the first time since World Series

The Washington Nationals have returned to Houston’s Minute Maid Park for the first time since the 2019 World Series. The only remaining player from that run on the active roster, Patrick Corbin, got the start last night. Corbin had a decent start, allowing two earned runs over five innings. He struck out five and walked five. Both earned runs came from solo home runs.

Chad Kuhl and Thad Ward each gave up two earned runs in relief. The Nationals only run came from a Lane Thomas double that was knocked in by Luis García. In the end, the Nats lost 6-1.

Your Nats Report Player of the Game is Thomas, who went 2-3 with a walk. The next game starts at 8:10 p.m. on MASN.

A’s fans reverse boycott

Last night, A’s fans held a reverse boycott at the A’s-Rays game to show that Oakland still deserves a baseball team. Just before the game, the A’s announced that all revenue from the game will be donated back to the community through two charity organizations.

The A's will donate all ticket revenue from tonight's game to two local community organizations:

They ended up donating $811,107 to charity. It was a great game and the A’s managed to narrowly win their seventh game in a row.

The announced attendance at the Oakland A's reverse boycott game: 27,759.

And the crowd has been absolutely electric. Constantly engaged, chanting for John Fisher to sell the team and trying to remind everyone that Oakland losing baseball is a genuinely bad thing for the sport.
