Rochester, NY - Today, the Rochester Red Wings lost against the Syracuse Mets, 12-6.

The Rochester Red Wings started out the game with an 8-0 deficit and could not tie or mount a comeback this afternoon against the Syracuse Mets.

The Rochester Red Wings are now at .500 with a record of 13-13 this season. They have also lost two of three games against the Syracuse Mets this week. Rochester is now 3-3 this season against the Syracuse Mets and is 1-2 at home against the Syracuse Mets.

Starting pitcher LHP DJ Herz only 0.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits, striking out none, and walking four.

The Rochester Red Wings did make it interesting as, at one point, the Red Wings did plate the tying run in the bottom of the eighth; however, they could not convert. In the top of the ninth, the Syracuse Mets plated four runs thanks to a Jose Iglesias RBI single and a three-run home run by Yolmer Sánchez.

Things got interesting in the bottom of the seventh, as Rochester pulled within two runs thanks to a Victor Robles RBI single that scored Jake Alu. In the bottom of the fifth, the Red Wings scored five runs thanks to an RBI from Jack Dunn, which scored Carter Kieboom from third, and a three-run homerun from Jackson Cluff, which scored Jack Dunn and Brady Lindsly.

Jackson Cluff’s three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth was his first home run of the season and went a distance of 350 feet with an exit velocity of 100.8 mph off RHP Mike Vasil. This was his first home run since last August and was his first three-RBI game since July 29, 2023, when he was with the Harrisburg Senators.

Jake Alu had three hits in this afternoon's game. Alu went 3-4 with a run scored, and this was his third multi-hit game of the 2024 season and his first three-hit game since June 29, 2023, against Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Travis Blakenhorn hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth that went 384 feet. Blakenhorn’s eight homeruns are tied for the fifth-most homeruns in the International League. He finished the day 1-4.

Next, the Rochester Red Wings will continue their series tomorrow night with the first pitch at 6:05 p.m. EDT. The Red Wings will send RHP Thaddeus Ward (0-1; 5.19 ERA) to the mound to face the Mets, and the Red Wings will face RHP Max Kranick (0-0; 5.40 ERA)
