Here are the latest headlines and analyses around the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball for today, April 23.

Welcome to the Morning Briefing! Haden here. Let’s talk about this Dodger’s series.

Leading this Morning’s Briefing: Nats start series against LA Dodgers today

The Nationals begin the final series of their homestand against the LA Dodgers today. Tonight, Patrick Corbin (0-3, 8.06 ERA) will take on James Paxton (2-0, 2.81 ERA). First pitch is at 6:45 pm and will be televised on MASN.

On Wednesday, Jake Irvin (1-1, 3.13 ERA) will face Landon Knack (0-1, 3.60 ERA). The Nats saw Knack when they played the Dodgers last week in what was his major league debut.

On Thursday, MacKenzie Gore (2-1, 3.60 ERA) will take on the Dodgers’ big offseason signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1-1, 4.50 ERA).

Down in the Minors

The Red Wings will head to St. Paul to play the Saints, the Twins Triple-A affiliate.

The Senators will travel to Erie to play the SeaWolves, the Tigers Double-A affiliate.

The Blue Rocks will go to Brooklyn to play the Cyclones, the Mets High-A affiliate.

The Nationals will go to Delmarva to play the Shorebirds, the Orioles Low-A affiliate.
